Youth Pastor

About the Church: Phenix City First is an Assemblies of God church with approximately 400 members located in Phenix City, AL. Our mission is to help people gather intentionally, grow daily, give faithfully and go missionally.

About the Position: PCF is looking for a full-time passionate and energetic person who can develop, implement, and oversee the ministry of youth in our church. In the broadest sense this ministry includes youth evangelism, youth discipleship, pastoral care and the training and equipping for ministry. The ultimate goal is that the youth in our church would develop a growing personal relationship with Christ, be grounded in the Word of God, discover the will and purpose of God for their lives and that they would live out that purpose for the glory of God.

The specific responsibilities of the Youth Pastor under the direction of the Lead and Executive Pastor shall include but is not limited to the following.

YOUTH PROGRAM

1.   The Youth Pastor (YP) shall be responsible to provide for and oversee a weekly youth service and schedule a youth summer camp and winter retreat. PCF Youth will support and attend AYM Summer Camp. The youth service is on Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:15PM. YP is required to be at the church 1 hour prior to the service beginning in youth on Wednesdays and main service on Sundays. YP would have involvement in the Sunday service.

2.   The Youth Pastor shall carry the primary responsibility for ministry to our youth through preaching, teaching and discipleship.

3.   Set goals for the youth such as spiritual growth, evangelism and missions involvement.

4.   The Youth Pastor shall be responsible to recruit, train and provide effective leadership to youth staff, which will work closely with the YP in implementing the youth ministry.

YOUTH MINISTRY

1. The Youth Pastor shall be responsible to develop a personal relationship with all youth through contact at church, in schools, in homes, youth activities and times of ministry.

2.   Through these relationships the YP is to share in their triumphs and struggles, their achievements and failures, their hopes and their fears.

3.   Seek to minister to all the youth as much as it is possible, seek to create an atmosphere of “Unity” where “cliques” evaporate and healthy relationships and growth is evident.

4.   The YP shall work closely with youth staff to seek every opportunity to lead the youth into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and teach them the need for Water Baptism as well as living a life that is Spirit-filled.

5.   The YP shall be responsible for follow-up through visits, phone calls and correspondence for those who are visitors, new converts and those who become infrequent in attendance.

MINISTRY CARE

1. Visitation, developing by example and providing encouragement through caring for one another will be expected of the YP.

2.   The YP shall carry the responsibility for ministry to the youth who are hospitalized.

3.   Provide follow-up to youth who visit the services.

4.   Visit youth in homes (if possible and when invited) to become better acquainted with their needs, environment and parents thereby strengthening the relationship.

DISCIPLESHIP, EVANGELISM, MISSIONS

1. Develop, implement and oversee an integrated discipleship ministry youth that will seek to ground youth in a growing, maturing and spirit-filled relationship with Christ.

2. Develop, implement and oversee and outreach ministry by the youth for the purpose of reaching out to other youths in the area.

3. Encourage and train young people to become involved in ministry in the main service as well as local and foreign ministry opportunities.

4.  Encourage the entire youth group to understand that all of us are called to be a witness and seek to “do the work of an evangelist” in their own Jerusalem.

WHAT IS PHENIX CITY LIKE: Phenix City is situated on the Georgia/Alabama line separated by the Chattahoochee River. It’s 30 minutes from Auburn and 1 ½ hours from Atlanta. It is a small town surrounded with small businesses, beautiful scenery and diverse communities. A quick drive over the bridge to Columbus, GA gives you access to great restaurants, attractions and events year around. Columbus is Georgia’s 3rd largest city with a population of approx. 250,000. Phenix City is also located next to Fort Moore, Home of the Infantry, one of the largest military bases in America.
